Emergency ManagementHistory

The Emergency Volunteer Services (EVS) was formed in 1998 and operated under the direction of the City of Aurora's Emergency Management Agency (AEMA). EVS is the result of the combination of two long-time Aurora volunteer groups; the Citizen Radio Patrol (organized in 1974) and the Aurora Emergency Management Agency Volunteers (organized in 1960). EVS assists Aurora’s emergency management personnel and first responders with manpower and equipment during emergencies and municipal events. EVS Volunteers are people just like you, who offer their time and talent to help make Aurora a better place in which to live and work. The one thing they have in common is a desire to give something back to their community.

Emergency volunteers have assisted with providing traffic control and scene lighting at motor vehicle accidents, aircraft accidents, and structure fires, rescue operations along with City events, parades and festivals.
