The Aurora Public Art Commission Presents: DreamCycles

DreamCycles will be on display from June 11 through August 13, 2010 in the Aurora Public art Commission Gallery. The APAC Sculpture Garden, located adjacent to the gallery will be open until October 17. DreamCycles features sculptures, paintings, collage, conceptual pieces, photographs and even live garden art by 16 artists, including Nasim Abolghasem, Walter Arnold, the Aurora Tuesday Garden Club, Fawn Clarke-Peterson, Joseph Gagnepain, Soterios Gardiakos, Keith Gerling, Rae Ann Hoehn, John Hooker, Siew Lian Lim, Marcus Mason, Emma Nolley, Jessica Seitz, Peg Steinhebel, Nancy Wicker, and Valerie William.

DreamCycles artists creatively address the practical issues of:

  • Recycling
  • bicycles (and other active transportation) as primary transportation
  • public transit systems
  • land protection and sustainable agriculture
  • local economic networks/productive work in the new economy

DreamCycles artists were asked to choose any or all of these themes, and to approach their chosen subjects with ingenuity, resourcefulness, imagination, pragmatism, whimsy and even hilarity.
